Description

Model Artist's performed at the Franklin Museum at 127 Grand Street New York City managed by George Lea. The troop, described as Madame Warton's, consisted of twenty-seven young ladies who posed nude or seminude. The company staged scenes from classic paintings to lend an air of respectability to the show. Though quite rare, this stamp when seen is on a Spanish two real. This is thought to be the only example known on a US coin. Miller 584 From the John J. Ford collection Stack's Bowers August 2013. (3000-4000)
