Description
503 - MILLER NY 10B Raw MS62 20% Bright. Edwin Cogan Brooklyn New York struck in Brass with a Plain edge. The English "Daddy of the American Coin-Trade" on the obverse with "Yours Faithfully" in script and a poem "A Foine Ould Brooklyn Gintleman of a Peppery Turn of Moind, He Gits His Ebenazur Up and Thin Goes it Boind" on the reverse. Thought to have been issued by Isaac F. Wood (signed Ici?) some-time after Cogan relocated to New York from Philadelphia in 1865. A fascinating piece in need of more study and research. Very rare in all compositions, unlisted in Brass by Adams and Miller with Rulau noting just two known. Rulau NY Bk 9A From the Steve Tanenbaum and Arlie Slabaugh collections earlier from PCAC's June 1990 sale. (500-750)
